Chatbase pricing: plans, credits and costs by volume
Chatbase costs depend on your AI model and reply volume. We compare its plans and credits at five usage levels with ChatbotGen, our product. The calculations cover subscriptions and credit top-ups; WhatsApp fees are separate.
Chatbase pricing and documentation checked in November 2026.
The short answer
Chatbase has three self-serve plans: Hobby at $40 a month, Basic at $150 and Business at $500, or $32, $120 and $400 a month billed yearly. They include 700, 4,000 and 15,000 message credits. Each reply spends 1 to 5 credits depending on the model, so Hobby covers 140 to 700 replies. Extra credits cost $40 per 1,000.
ChatbotGen charges $29, $79 or $199 a month for 2,000, 10,000 or 30,000 messages, and each reply counts as one message. At 5,000 replies a month you pay $79 on ChatbotGen, against $190 on Chatbase with a 1-credit model and $390 with a 2-credit model, both billed monthly.
Chatbase plans: monthly and annual billing
Chatbase shows the yearly price by default, at 20% off. Here they are side by side.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby | $40 a month | $32 a month | 700 | 1 | 2 |
| Basic | $150 a month | $120 a month | 4,000 | 1 | 3 |
| Business | $500 a month | $400 a month | 15,000 | 1 | 5 |
| Enterprise | Quoted | Quoted | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Read from chatbase.co/pricing in November 2026. Its pricing page lists no free plan. Add-ons: extra agent $25 a month, removing "Powered By Chatbase" $99 a month, extra 10 MB of storage $25 a month. Prices change; verify before you decide.
How Chatbase credits work
Every agent reply spends credits according to the model, so the same Hobby plan can cover 700 replies or 140.
| Credits per reply | Example models | Hobby | Basic | Business |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Auto, GPT-6 Luna, Claude 5.5 Haiku | 700 replies | 4,000 replies | 15,000 replies |
| 2 | GPT-6.1 Sol, GPT-6.1 Terra, Claude 5.5 Sonnet, Gemini 3.8 Flash | 350 replies | 2,000 replies | 7,500 replies |
| 4 | GPT-5.5 | 175 replies | 1,000 replies | 3,750 replies |
| 5 | Claude 5.5 Opus | 140 replies | 800 replies | 3,000 replies |

Credit usage, renewals and top-ups
- Plan credits renew on the 1st of each month, regardless of when you subscribed, and unused ones do not carry over.
- When credits run out, the agent shows "This AI Agent is currently unavailable" until they renew or you add more.
- Auto-recharge adds credits at $40 per 1,000 when you drop below a threshold you set. Those credits never expire, which helps if your volume swings, and are billed separately from the subscription.
- Attachments spend extra credits: images per image, PDFs per page.
- Voice spends 6 credits a minute, plus the model's cost for each reply.
What it costs at your volume
Monthly cost at each AI reply volume. For Chatbase, we choose the lowest total with monthly billing. The annual column prices that same plan and top-up combination with the plan discount.
| Replies a month | ChatbotGen (monthly billing only) | Chatbase, 1-credit model (monthly / yearly billing) | Chatbase, 2-credit model (monthly / yearly billing) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | $29 (Starter) | $40 / $32 (Hobby) | $80 / $72 (Hobby + 1,000 recharge credits) |
| 2,000 | $29 (Starter) | $120 / $112 (Hobby + 2,000 recharge credits) | $150 / $120 (Basic) |
| 5,000 | $79 (Growth) | $190 / $160 (Basic + 1,000 recharge credits) | $390 / $360 (Basic + 6,000 recharge credits) |
| 10,000 | $79 (Growth) | $390 / $360 (Basic + 6,000 recharge credits) | $700 / $600 (Business + 5,000 recharge credits) |
| 30,000 | $199 (Business) | $1,100 / $1,000 (Business + 15,000 recharge credits) | $2,300 / $2,200 (Business + 45,000 recharge credits) |
Our math, using prices read in November 2026. Yearly billing only lowers the plan part. Packs are counted whole and leftover recharge credits never expire, so a later month can come out cheaper. Excludes attachments, voice, add-ons and whatever Meta charges for WhatsApp messages.

Add-ons and WhatsApp fees
Three Chatbase charges change the math for a small business. Removing its branding costs $99 a month, more than all of ChatbotGen Growth, and ChatbotGen includes it from Starter. Each Chatbase plan comes with one agent and each extra costs $25 a month, while our plans include 3, 10 or 50 chatbots. And its plans include 2, 3 or 5 seats, where ChatbotGen has no charge per team member.
Chatbase and ChatbotGen connect through the official WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta's messaging rules still apply. WhatsApp fees depend on the message category, the recipient's country and any applicable free allowance. These fees are separate from your subscription; check current rates before connecting your number.
Why choose ChatbotGen for your business
Chatbase Basic adds voice and support connectors from $150 a month, or $120 billed yearly. Those features matter if they are part of your requirements; they also require integration setup and a budget for model-based credits. ChatbotGen focuses on answering customer questions, capturing leads and handing them to your team from $29 a month.
At all five reply volumes calculated on this page, ChatbotGen costs less than the Chatbase combinations shown. Starter includes lead capture, human handoff and 3 chatbots, with no per-seat charge. Test your agent with real customer questions before going live.
What ChatbotGen does not do
- When the month's allowance runs out, the bot stops answering until the next period or until you upgrade. We do not sell extra message packs.
- There is no free plan and no yearly discount.
- Web, WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger and Instagram only: no SMS or voice.
- ChatbotGen manages the AI model; there is no model picker in the dashboard.
- There are no tickets, SLAs or shared email inbox, and CRM connections go through webhooks and Zapier.
Questions about what Chatbase costs
How much does Chatbase cost per month?
Hobby is $40, Basic is $150 and Business is $500 a month billed monthly. Billed yearly they drop to $32, $120 and $400 a month. Enterprise is quoted. These are the prices on chatbase.co/pricing in November 2026.
Does Chatbase have a free plan?
Its pricing page lists no free plan in November 2026; the entry plan is Hobby. ChatbotGen has no free plan either, but you can build and test your agent without a card and then use a 7-day free Starter trial with a card.
What is a Chatbase message credit?
It is the unit Chatbase deducts for each agent reply. Its docs put a reply at 1 credit on models like Auto or Claude 5.5 Haiku, 2 on Claude 5.5 Sonnet or GPT-6.1, 4 on GPT-5.5 and 5 on Claude 5.5 Opus.
Do Chatbase credits roll over?
Plan credits do not: they renew on the 1st of each month and leftovers are lost. Auto-recharge credits, at $40 per 1,000, never expire.
What happens when Chatbase credits run out?
The agent shows an unavailable message until credits renew or you add more, and auto-recharge prevents that. On ChatbotGen the bot also stops at the allowance, and the way out is to upgrade, since we do not sell single messages.
Is ChatbotGen cheaper than Chatbase?
At all five volumes in our table, yes. At 2,000 replies a month it is $29 against $120 on Chatbase billed monthly with a 1-credit model, or $112 billed yearly. Chatbase offers voice from Basic and more support connectors; if you need those, the comparison goes beyond price.
Does WhatsApp cost extra?
WhatsApp fees may apply separately on both tools. They depend on Meta's rates, message category, the recipient's country and applicable free allowances. The calculations on this page exclude those fees.
