ChatbotGen vs Landbot
Both are strong in Spanish and both are no-code. They part company on a single question: do you want to design the conversation, or train it?
Landbot pricing and docs checked in August 2026.
The short answer
Landbot is the better tool if the conversation is the product: a designed lead-capture flow, on-brand down to the CSS, with typed question blocks, lead scoring and a controlled path from hello to qualified. It is a Spanish company out of Barcelona, so Spanish sales and onboarding are native, and its team walks you through Meta's WhatsApp API application.
ChatbotGen is the better tool if the answer is the product. You train on your website and your documents rather than drawing a flow, your knowledge is not capped at 200,000 characters, AI answers are not metered separately from ordinary chats, and WhatsApp connects by QR in minutes instead of the one-to-two-week Meta approval Landbot's own site describes.
ChatbotGen
Best for answering from a real knowledge base, in Spanish, on WhatsApp fast
Your content is already written — a site, PDFs, an FAQ — and you want it answering questions rather than walking people through a script.
Landbot
Best for designed lead-capture flows by marketing teams
You want a beautiful, controlled, deterministic conversation that qualifies leads, and you care how every step looks.
ChatbotGen vs Landbot, feature by feature
Every cell comes from each product's own documentation or pricing page.
| Feature | ChatbotGen | Landbot |
|---|---|---|
| Web widget | Yes. One <script> line on any site. | Yes, and it is their specialty: a highly polished conversational canvas with custom CSS and JS. |
| Yes, by scanning a QR code from the dashboard. Live in minutes, with no Meta Business verification and no approved templates. | Official Meta WhatsApp Business API. Their team walks you through the application, which their own site says takes one to two weeks and is approved by WhatsApp. No QR path. | |
| Telegram | Yes, by pasting a bot token. | Not natively. It exists only as a build on top of their APIChat channel with Node.js. |
| Other channels | None yet. No Instagram, Messenger, SMS or voice. | Facebook Messenger and APIChat (a developer channel over an API). No Instagram, Slack, Teams or voice. |
| Training sources | Website crawl, PDF/DOCX/TXT files, question-and-answer pairs, free text. | Pasted text, PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD and RTF files, and URLs with site scraping and auto-refresh. A hard cap of 200,000 characters of knowledge base. |
| Languages | Replies in the visitor's language. Product, documentation and support in English and Spanish. | AI Agents detect and answer in the user's language automatically. Rule-based bots are single-language: another language means duplicating and translating the bot. |
| AI model choice | Model-agnostic via OpenRouter: Gemini by default, with Claude and GPT available. | Limited and thinly documented: there is a model selector in the AI agent block, but their docs do not list the options. The only model named anywhere is GPT-4o. |
| AI tools / actions | Lead capture, human handoff, appointment booking, and live property search against the Wasi CRM. | A JavaScript code block, a webhook block, formulas, conditions, lead scoring, a team inbox, a REST API, and an automation block with n8n. No agentic tool-calling loop. |
| Free tier | Yes. Build and train a chatbot free, no card, with a demo message allowance. | Yes, the Sandbox plan: 100 chats a month, 1 seat, web only — and zero AI chats, so it cannot run an AI bot. |
| Trial | 7 days free on the Starter plan, card required. | 14 days with access to every feature and channel; the account then drops to Sandbox. |
| List price | $29 / $79 / $199 per month (USD). | Starter €40, Pro €100, WhatsApp Pro €200 and Business from €400 a month. Customers in Latin America, Spain and the United States are billed in dollars: $45, $110, $220 and from $450. |
| Billing model | Flat monthly subscription with a message allowance. No per-seat charge and no per-resolution charge. | Per chat, with AI chats metered and billed separately from regular chats. Extra chats cost €0.05 and AI chats €0.10 each. |

Pros and cons, both ways
ChatbotGen
Pros
- WhatsApp by QR: a number is connected in minutes, with no Meta Business verification to sit through.
- Spanish as a first-class language: interface, documentation and support, not half-translated.
- Flat, predictable pricing: $29, $79 or $199 a month with a clear message allowance.
- No per-seat charge: adding teammates to the workspace does not move the bill.
- Training is direct: paste a URL or upload PDFs; there are no flows to design.
- One bot across three channels: web, WhatsApp and Telegram share the same training.
Cons
- No Instagram, Messenger, SMS or voice channels.
- Not a visual flow builder: there are no decision trees to draw step by step.
- Not a help desk suite with tickets, SLAs and a shared email inbox.
- Fewer native third-party integrations than the largest platforms.
- The message allowance is monthly: very high support volume needs a custom quote.
Landbot
Pros
- A Spanish company, based in Barcelona: its marketing, sales and onboarding speak native Spanish.
- The most polished visual builder of the group, with fine design control and custom CSS.
- They walk you through the official Meta WhatsApp API application, which is not trivial.
- Excellent for lead capture and qualification: lead scoring, forms and typed question blocks.
- Bricks: reusable flow modules shared between bots.
- A team inbox with human takeover.
Cons
- A 200,000-character knowledge base cap, which is small for serious RAG.
- AI chats are billed separately from regular chats, and are the scarcest allowance on the plan.
- The free plan includes no AI chats at all.
- Few channels: no native Telegram, no Instagram, no voice.
- Rule-based bots are single-language; two languages means two bots.
- The canvas slows down on large flows and has no real-time multi-user editing.
Three differences that actually decide it
Designing a conversation versus training one
Landbot's centre of gravity is the canvas: you build the path, block by block, with typed questions, conditions, formulas and lead scoring, and the AI agent is a block that sits inside that flow. It is genuinely the best-looking builder in this comparison and the right answer when the conversation itself is the campaign. ChatbotGen has no canvas: you point it at your website and your documents, and the model answers from them. If your value is a controlled script, we are the wrong tool. If your value is knowing the answers, drawing the script is work you would rather not do.
The 200,000-character ceiling
Landbot's AI agent caps its knowledge base at 200,000 characters, and web scraping caps at the same figure of a site's HTML. That is roughly a long book — fine for a product FAQ, tight for a documentation set, a catalogue or a policy library. ChatbotGen sizes training by plan, from 400,000 characters on Free up to 40 million on Business, which is the difference between summarising your business and actually containing it.
AI chats are a separate, scarcer allowance
This is the pricing detail worth reading twice. Landbot meters regular chats and AI chats separately, and an AI-handled conversation consumes both. Starter includes 500 chats but only 100 AI chats; Pro includes 2,500 chats but only 300 AI chats. Past that, AI chats are quoted at €0.10 each against €0.05 for ordinary ones, and the free Sandbox plan includes zero AI chats — it cannot run an AI bot at all. ChatbotGen has one allowance and every message in it can be an AI answer. In Landbot's favour: at low volume with mostly rule-based flows, its entry price is genuinely cheap, and customers in Latin America, Spain and the US are billed in dollars rather than euros.
What people ask when comparing these two
Which is better for Spanish?
Both are strong, and this is the one comparison where Spanish is not our differentiator. Landbot is a Spanish company headquartered in Barcelona with a Spanish marketing site and native Spanish sales. Two honest caveats: its help centre is English-only, and its rule-based bots are single-language, so supporting a second language means duplicating and translating the bot. ChatbotGen's interface, documentation and support are all in Spanish, and one bot answers in whichever language the visitor writes in.
How much does Landbot cost?
Starter is €40 a month, Pro €100, WhatsApp Pro €200, and Business starts at €400, with about 20% off for paying annually. Customers in Latin America, Spain and the United States are billed in dollars: $45, $110, $220 and from $450. Watch the AI chat allowance rather than the chat allowance — it is the smaller number. Checked in August 2026.
Does Landbot support Telegram?
Not natively. Landbot's channels are web, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and APIChat; Telegram exists only as a help-centre workaround built on APIChat with Node.js. ChatbotGen supports Telegram by pasting a bot token.
How long does WhatsApp take to set up on each?
Landbot uses the official Meta WhatsApp API and its own site says the application process usually takes one to two weeks, with the final decision resting with WhatsApp — though they do guide you through it and offer a test environment meanwhile. ChatbotGen connects a number by QR code in minutes.
Can Landbot train on PDFs?
Yes — PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD and RTF, plus pasted text and scraped URLs. The constraint is not the format but the ceiling: 200,000 characters total across the knowledge base.
Does Landbot's free plan include AI?
No. The Sandbox plan gives 100 chats a month on web only, with zero AI chats, so the AI agent cannot run on it. There is a 14-day full-feature trial, after which the account drops to Sandbox. ChatbotGen's free plan lets you build and train a real bot and test it with a demo message allowance.
The real comparison takes five minutes
Paste your website URL, let it train, and ask it the same questions you would ask Landbot. Building and training is free, no card required.
