How to add a chatbot to Shopify

Before you start

You need permission to edit your site and a trained chatbot.

1. Copy your ChatbotGen script

1. Open your chatbot.
2. Open Channels.
3. Open Web Widget.
4. Click Copy beside Embed script.

2. Install the script

1. Open Online Store → Themes.
2. Duplicate your theme before editing it.
3. Open the theme menu and choose Edit code.
4. Open layout/theme.liquid.
5. Paste the script immediately before .
6. Save the file and publish the edited theme when you are ready.

3. Verify installation

1. Open the published site in a private browser window.
2. Click the chat bubble.
3. Send a question answered by your training content.
4. Check the reply.

If the widget does not appear

Check that you published your changes and pasted the script only once. Clear any website cache. Test without browser content blockers.
